Board of Directors
The Commerce Commission is governed by a Board of Directors
comprised of eleven voting members
and two non-voting members. The voting members are as follows:
Gary Rose, Chief of the Office of Economic Growth, serves
as Chairman of the Board (as Governor Corzine’s designee).
Ex-officio members are the State Treasurer, the Commissioners
of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection,
the Department of Labor & Workforce Development and the Department
of Transportation and the Chairperson of the Commission on
Higher Education.
Three public members are appointed by the Governor with the
advice and consent of the State Senate to serve a five-year
term. Two additional public members are appointed by and serve
at the pleasure of the Governor. One is appointed based upon
the recommendation of the Senate President and the other is
appointed based upon the recommendation of the Speaker of
the General Assembly.
In addition, two non-voting legislative members serve on the
Board in an advisory capacity: one State Senator appointed
by the Senate President and one Assembly person appointed
by the Assembly Speaker. These members develop and facilitate
legislation to assist the Commission in the fulfillment of
its mission.
